I have presided over several funerals that were the result of suicide, one of a young man who killed himself in the same house that his dad had killed himself in 20 years earlier. Of the hundreds of funerals I have presided, these are the most difficult , you can feel the oppression, it is tangible. Self Murder leaves victims, family members who feel guilt and shame, who wonder why their love was not enough, who have no choice in this matter of grief that has been thrust on them by a voluntary act of a person they love. They must go on without a mom, dad, sibling, child or friend. They feel deep guilt for the anger that comes rising up towards the person who decided to take themselves from others who love them. I do not deny the pain of depression (having suffered it myself and ministering to hundreds who have as well) but I hate SUICIDE, I will never have pity on the works of the devil, my heart aches and breaks for anyone who finds themselves in such a place, but I will do all in my power to help people see the real nature of this hideous act, they must hear and know that there is another way!
