I have read the 2009 ASUU/FG MOU(memorandum of understanding) in details. It is not implementable 100%. Those who signed it for the government where just escapist that wanted the then strike to just end. If ASUU continues this strike for a year the FG will still not implement the MOU completely in one single phase. They should accept the gradual implementation program. Remuneration in public foreign universities is not rigid across board. It is patterned according to the peculiarities of each school and some of the benefits are contributory. Which federal country will ASUU show to me where the federal government finances state owned universities? This is the same country where the federating states and units are crying daily for devolution of power/responsibilities from the centre and also practice of true federalism. In other climes overtime benefits are financed from internally generated revenue of the institution. What are Nigerian schools doing with the huge IGR they amass yearly? ASUU are also part of the decay in our university system. This is a country where normally if a lecturer is going on sabbatical leave he or she is entitled to six months salaries but on the contrary the lecturer will stay for forty-eight months and collect salaries all through. Most of the lecturers devout their time to private contracts. What are we not saying? They should also purge themselves of negative practices and not just demonise the FG. How many times have we heard ASUU going on strike over the extremely corrupt manner university vice chancellors in league with the governing boards rule the various schools with the supposedly lean resources available? The FG and other governments across board should tighten their belts genuinely before telling ASUU there is paucity of funds to meet the demands in the MOU. The whole system is screwed;both ASUU and the government. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT/ ASUU,WHO IS OUR HERO!! WE NEED TO KNOW WHICH SIDE HAD THE LOVE OF OUR DEAR COUNTRY AT MIND... CORRUPTION KILLS NATION NOT BUILD IT..... REVOLUTION TIME IS NOW!! ALL OUR PARENT,LEADERS AND REPRESENTATIVE MUST REALIZED THIS ANOTHER DEMONSTRATIONS OF CRAZY NOT DEMOCRACY!! NIGERIA IN DIP CHEAT.... REVOLUTION IS A MUST,FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI.... BABA FELA LIVES ON......... OBAFEMI AWOLOWO IS SLEEPING!! A DEAD THAT HAS CHILD DOESNT SLEEP I KNOW THEY SAY.....
