I have received a number of calls over the last several days asking me to confirm the name and the salary offer to a new City Manager. I regret that one of our Council Members have held discussion with employees, select members of the public and some members of BIDA revealing the name of one of the candidates. This conversation displays a lack of trust from the elected official and is in fact a violation of their oath of office, City Charter and specific requirements to our ethics ordinance. If you have held conversations with a member of Council who shared this information, I can only emphasis the lack of trust any citizen should have in that elected official. At the moment, any such discussion is inappropriate and a violation of Executive Session requirements. As soon as it is legal and ethical I will certainly share the information. At this time I can not confirm the comments made by other elected officials.
