I have recently come out to my local hometown about my PTSD, - TopicsExpress

I have recently come out to my local hometown about my PTSD, depression and resulting anorexia after being hospitalized. I have been studying, reading and trying to understand how all of these co-morbid mental issues exist and work together. I am a survivor of severe childhood abuse at the hands of my parents. (thus I have no family support) I have recently recognized this to be the root cause of my PTSD and mental health issues. (I am 29) Since revealing my need for help, after several suicide attempts, I have been attacked, criticized and ostracized because of the stigma of mental illness. Now, Ive become and advocate, hoping to enlighten and educate others, with statistics, facts and my own experiences, so that others can have the tools to help themselves and their loved ones. I am currently seeking to go to an inpatient treatment, but as we all know...mental health is primarily a privately funded realm of health care within the United States and not as recognized as physical health needs. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am sharing my fundraiser that my best friend created while I was in the hospital to help with medical costs. Please share my story for awareness, and for the recognition for those that suffer in silence, to ask for help.
