I have recently seen a “meme” with a quote from Marilyn Monroe - TopicsExpress

I have recently seen a “meme” with a quote from Marilyn Monroe floating around, that says: “Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid the drama, take chances and never have regrets because at one point, everything you did was exactly what you wanted” And I’ve seen this plastered all over the internet, especially social media. Is this this actually what people believe? Is this really how we want people to live? Or more importantly, is this the mantra we want our children and young people growing up by? To just do whatever they want, and don’t regret it? I can think of quite a few things that I feel like doing or want to do, but that doesnt mean I should just go ahead and do them. When things turn to the proverbial, as is so often the case when we just “do whatever we want”, do we really thing we shouldnt ever have regrets and learn from them? I am staggered that so many people buy into things posted on the web, simply because they have the face or name of someone famous or “cool”. This mantra suggests we disregard those around us and just carry on with whatever, to hell with the consequences. This is an entirely hedonistic approach to life. It says, I do what I want and I don’t take responsibility for any fall out. I don’t want to live in a world where no one regrets stupid things theyve done and justifies them by saying that it was something they wanted to do, so they did it. See unfortunately, we live in a world where almost everything we do, has an impact on other people. We can’t simply do what we want and disregard those around us. I’d prefer to live in a world where people regret dumb things they did, and want to change, so they don’t make the same mistakes over and over, and hurt others. And in a world where people take consideration for those around them, before they do something that will have a bearing on their lives. So don’t listen to Marilyn, listen to Uncle Raymond ;) Live a life you are proud of. Be Better. Love Better
