I have regretfully returned from spending four days at Great Gull Island with a bunch of fabulous folks that I miss already! We had it all during this first weekend, although the tern numbers and egg and nest numbers are down which is worrisome. Just under 80 were found and marked, we took some time to roll out the red carpet and do some home staging and landscaping for the Roseate Terns, manholes were covered, nest platforms landscaped, tongue depressors numbered, and cleaning started. We had fog, stars, thunder & lightning and a full rainbow all accompanied by the calls of terns, some even diving at many in our Flower Hat Dirty Shirt Society members.
