I have returned from Lake Titicaca. The enormity of the lake in - TopicsExpress

I have returned from Lake Titicaca. The enormity of the lake in combination with the sun and landscapes made it seem as though we were at sea and it was sometimes easy to forget we were at 12,000 feet! The blue water, the reeds rocking in the waves, the small reed houses floating on reed islands, and the mountains of two countries only as visible as ghosts in the distance across the water all never failed to please the eyes. We did a homestay on the island Almantani, a place with sheep and donkeys but no roads, giant colorful skirts but no jeans, and quiet dawns where golden light reached across the water to embrace the small, square agricultural fields walled in volcanic stones. Team Colorado had been temporarily pulled apart by the forces of South America and I was gratefully adopted by our dear compadres, Team France. In Puno, Team France plus Orianna met two amigos from our longest-appreciated Peru hostel in Cusco and T-bow and Chris taught three Americans how to play Tarot over nutella crepes and coffee with Baileys. We proceeded to go on a downright Tarot binge over our next days on Lake Titicaca.... No regrets in the least. Yesterday it was time to head for Arequipa for Zach, Ian, and I while Team France boarded a border crossing bus to continue their journey into Bolivia. It was a somewhat difficult goodbye for me to two of the dearest friends I have ever had traveling, but companions like these two are not found every day and our escapades are sure to someday recommence. Have the best of travels, you two! I, along with Zach and Ian, am now in Arequipa. Last night we wandered the giant, ancient street architecture after straight slaying some amazing Mexican food. Today, Miriam will be joining us for monasteries and ice mummies! This morning, I am hoping that all of my friends everywhere are enjoying this unique time in their life and sharing smiles with more people than I could ever know. Peace to all.
