I have ridden a bike across the country in 19 days between my junior and senior year of college. I have biked in just about every state in the U.S. While I have a number of favorite places to ride, my absolute favorite is Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe. This is truly a bucket list ride and I will be heading out to Tahoe this June for my 7th Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride with Team In Training (TNT). We havent started our training yet so, there is still time to join the team. Our official training kicks-off on Sunday, February 1st. The first 6 - 8 weeks are spent indoors on spinners as we build a base level of fitness and wait for the weather to break. I have many great memories from my first 6 trips to Tahoe. One of my favorite years was 2010. We had moved back to Columbus, after 20 years away from home, and I was asked to coach the TNT cycle team. Our team HERO that year was Seth Jenkins, a brave, compassionate young man who had been battling leukemia for 7 years. Sadly, Seth succumbed to leukemia while we were training for the Tahoe ride. We had 17 cyclists on the Team In Training cycle team that year and they committed themselves to not only finish this 100 mile ride in honor of Seth but, they also raised over $100,000 for cancer research and patient aid, impacting more lives than they could ever imagine. It was a truly humbling experience to coach this team. I created this video slideshow from the 2010 Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride to capture the essence of Team In Training.
