I have said over and over again that I want a world that supports - TopicsExpress

I have said over and over again that I want a world that supports the unfolding of human potential. Today I am asking myself what that world looks like and what potential really means. I have concluded that any effort to construct a world that supports one kind of human potential would be to create a world that destroys another kind. This video is a perfect example of this. The skills this woman honed as a street performer in New Orleans have allowed her to innovate with the trumpet in what appear to be unheard of ways. I do not pretend to know her background. But I do know that there are musical programs devoted to technical skill and that they deemphasize the kind of powerful innovative skills that made this performance possible. That which turns out a great technical musician would likely not also turn out a great innovator. For innovation, something more or different is needed. Also, that which turns out a selfless custodian of the world does not turn out a powerful warrior invested in bringing his/her own vision to life. For one person, a society with crumbling bridges and infrastructure will stifle potential. For another it will spur them on to new heights of personal accomplishment. The questions I am raising now are difficult ones. But they are questions that must be answered. I think the real question is: How do we meet everything that comes into our lives in such a way that they enhance who we are, the skills we have, and the traits we are developing. sunnyskyz/happy-videos/1376/She-Sets-Up-On-The-Street-And-Proceeds-To-Destroy-Everything-You-Thought-You-Knew-About-The-Clarinet
