I have seen a whole lot of people posting about the affordable insurance and I had to go and check out the rates for myself.... I posted 2 pics of first the cheapest ( Bronze) and the 2nd most expensive for Bluecross/Blue Shield ( because that is what we currently have through Charlies employer, thank god!) Remember, these rates would be for us, a family of 3 and DO NOT INCLUDE DENTAL OR VISION? I would also like to add that I never had the option to opt-out, and never received the penalties and repercussions warning I have heard one person claim to have received. With that being said, I think just the cost of this AFFORDABLE insurance in itself is crazy.. between the premium and total out-of-pocket the best my family could do annually would be $21,570.88 ( $8870.88 premiums and $12,500 out of pockets) for us to get as close as we can to the coverage we have now, it would cost us no less than $23,706.04 ($13,706.04 premiums and $10,000 out of pocket). This all also highly depends on the assumption that the deductible can be counted towards our out of pockets ( I have had one company counts it and one not, so it just depends). I would also like to note these costs do not include any Co-Pays!! The real kicker is that NONE of the companies had their Summary of Benefits available for you to do a true comparison. I am so happy that for now we have the insurance we do have , if only for now!
