I have seen about 15 different posts on the Fukishima plant and the water killing our fish and soon us. I follow the links and find myself on conspiracy sites and poorly researched eco sites trying to get their visitor stats up. So I decided to do what most of my Facebook companions didnt, calmly look at the facts and not freak out and spread fear and did the math. So far the reports from the IAEA say that 500 tons of radioactive water has been released into the ocean as part of emergency procedures. Sick I know! No radiation should ever be dumped into the ocean. That being said. 500 tons of water = 500,000 Liters of water. OMG!! I know right! Thats a lot (1 liter is too much in my opinion) but then when you put it into perspective and objectively you realize that is only 1/5th of an Olympic sized pool which is 2.5 million liters. WAIT HUH?!! So basically that small amount of water is supposedly poisoning the entire Pacific Ocean? The answer is nope! never! not even remotely probable. The fallout from Chernobyl had more impact in the Pacific as did all the nuclear test done from 1945-70 through out the Pacific. I am not defending how the Japanese have consistently blundered and covered up the problem but there are more pressing problems on the west coast like oil and shipping that is killing and poisoning the fish.
