I have seen posts previously of people parking precariously throughout the town. A suggestion has always been made to contact the traffic officer in town. I have a group of friends who live on a very small cul-de-sac near to the intersection of Johnson Rd and Ridge Street, Aricia Lane. Since the new Vinson Owen Construction people had taken to parking on this street to avoid the traffic that is VO is notorious for. Ordinarily, this would be no big deal, but this is a TINY street and the parkers tend to park directly across from driveways, thereby not allowing residents to get in and out of their driveways and in one incident causing a minor accident. Since then the police installed permanent NO PARKING SIGNS, there is no way for an emergency vehicles to get by the cars parked at the end of the street and forcing kids who walk to school into the middle of the street. This morning as I was dropping something off to a friend on the street, I had to stop to avoid pedestrians rounding an illegally parked car and drive to the very end of the street in order to safely turn and get to my friends house. You can see the huge amount of traffic in the background, legally proceeding on Ridge to Johnson Rd. I am not sure what more neighbors on this street can do, short of have a police detail monitor this TINY street so a child is not hit on his or her way to school. I am happy to continue to post the pictures, it seems silly, but maybe this will be the” vehicle” to keeping our kids safe and the ensuring that emergency vehicles can get to the residents that live at the end of the street. I wonder if the kids in the car can read the “No Parking” signs and what message they are learning. For instance, maybe the law does not apply to them?
