I have slab of corned beef in a package that I picked some time - TopicsExpress

I have slab of corned beef in a package that I picked some time ago at Lucky; this, incidentally, has nothing to do with the recent observance of St. Patricks day--it has everything to do with the fact that it was at a discounted price, which is the way to my heart, no matter what the product. My only standard/measure of quality is how cheaply I can get something, a characteristic of which I owe deep gratitude to my dear, departed father, who possessed that in spades. Anyway, Im about to cook this thing per the instructions (because I ALWAYS read and follow instructions, no matter what--a characteristic to whom credit be given to . . . I have no idea; its just there, and always has been). Corned beef was not a part of my experience growing up. We never had it; it was never mentioned; as far as I know, my mother didnt even know what it was. I did, however, hear it referenced frequently on TV shows--especially sit-coms; and it was always referenced as Corned Beef and Cabbage. OK, whatever; I figured it was beef prepared in some way with corn, and served with cabbage. Later in life I found out it had associations with either Ireland, or St. Patricks Day, or both. Now--to the point: Im NOT fixing cabbage. Its not that I dont like cabbage; I love cooked cabbage--just as I love everything (there aint nothin I wont eat; nope, nothin). I just didnt pick up any cabbage, and I didnt really have a reason to think of it. However, I need to know if this is WRONG: is it a cardinal sin to have corned beef sans cabbage? Am I breaking a RULE? Im just going to have some green beans. But its important that I not condemn myself to eternal damnation because I have committed a grievous error. For those who know the Enneagram--Im a deeply ensconced 1 on the Enneagram. So I follow the rules; I cant help myself. (And I tried telling that to a judge once, and she just wasnt buying any of it.) Well--Im going to put on the corned beef--per instructions, without cabbage, and take my chances: unless someone convincingly steers me otherwise. The balls in your court now.
