I have spent most of the day last Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday at the hospital with my son having him juggled between departments and specialists who couldnt agree or decide with any finality what is ailing him, loading him with medications and then sending us home having him continue to decline. We were finally referred to another hospital where we checked in this morning. He had been barely able to eat, drink, or breathe for days and had a 103 temp when we arrived at the ER first thing this morning. They are again sending specialists to examine and poke and prod him - but at least this hospital has decided to admit him in order to monitor him while they test and evaluate him. The current guess is that it is one of a couple of rare auto immune syndromes of some kind. I will be staying with him in the hospital until released which is currently a minimum of 3 days (when blood test results return, not sure how long the biopsy will take), and then a course of treatment will be decided and they will keep him until he shows improvement. I am exhausted, but so relieved - so thankful - that he has been given painkillers and hydration as well as some medicine to finally control his fever. It was so difficult to watch helplessly while he struggled - and to watch the medical professionals at a loss. They are currently assembling a team of specialists to diagnose him - we are in a real live episode of House MD....
