I have suffered GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder), panic attacks - TopicsExpress

I have suffered GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder), panic attacks and thanatophobia (look it up if you dont know what THAT is!) since 1976; it has been the bane of my life. A lot worse, I would say, even than my severe and chronic pain issues. Dr. Leo Sternbach, who worked for Hoffmann la Roche Pharmaceuticals, discovered benzodiazepines in the late 1950s (first chlordiazepoxide, which he called Librium, quickly followed by diazepam and oxazepam, known as Valium and Serepax) and without him and the things he discovered I would have been a complete wreck since then. Please share; you are NOT, as so many doctors would like to think, a hypochondriac, these conditions are real illnesses and can severely impede your ability even to function normally from day to day. If you DO suffer any of these things, please write in the comments which medication you find most helpful. I will start that ball rolling by saying, without a doubt, the best is alprazolam (Xanax, Xanor, Ksalol, Alplax etc) - one of the truly great discoveries of our times.
