I have taken the step of canceling my subscription to the Kansas - TopicsExpress

I have taken the step of canceling my subscription to the Kansas City Star. This is a somewhat drastic step for me as I have read or been read to from the Star (and the old Kansas City Times) since I was a toddler back in the days of President Truman. I will miss much of it but the editorial direction being taken under the current management is one that I can no longer support with my readership or money. I have no problem with rational and reasoned political debate, dialog based on logic, historical perspective and attention to the truth. But the Star has decided to follow the path of Political Correctness rather than factual accuracy and has chosen to to be more propaganda machine than conduit of fact and I cannot bring myself to believe that W.R. Nelson intended that to occur. I believe that this newspaper still has a fine reporting staff and a superlative sports department but in my opinion those are betrayed by an editorial philosophy more suited to the Village Voice or Mother Jones than a metropolitan daily in Americas heartland. I am saddened by having to take this action and I will continue to monitor the Star in the event that it alters its direction to a more balanced editorial attitude. Frankly, I doubt that the arrogance of the current direction will allow that to happen anytime soon. Goodbye, K.C. Star...
