I have the best pony ever. One of her eyes has been a little goopy, I chalked it up to seasonal allergens. It got worse. So, the vet came out today. She shone a light in her eye, she squirted cold dye in there to look for injuries, she numbed the eye, gloved up and poked her finger all around under the lids. These things might upset some horses, but my girl just stood there like a trooper. The vet decided to flush the lacrimal duct. Most horses have to be sedated for this, but Im going to give it a try because she is a rock star. She filled a syringe with saline, then threaded a long, thin tube up into the ponies nostril and the duct. I got to depress the syringe. Nothing, nothing, then a POP! and water began shooting out her eye. Eureka! Chanel accepted a few cookies from the vet then wandered off to graze. Totally calm and fine. Yup, best pony EVER.
