I have the fondest of memories of listening to Casey Kasem every weekend, listening for new tunes and sitting patiently with tape recorder propped next to the speaker in hopes of catching a favorite. I think I was astounded the first time I heard music being counted by someone that wasnt Casey and thinking it was sacrilege. Years later after getting into radio, my buddy @dave bartley shared a rare recording, an outtake from a Top 40 that showed Casey was just like the rest of us radio folk. Amazed by the things we are sometimes asked to say, to play or to talk about that no normal person would consider ok. Plus he swore. A lot. A major no no in radio. That clip is now easily found on the interwebz and no longer just an inside secretly shared moment in the backrooms of radio stations. And even more sad than that moment no longer belonging to the djs the idea that Casey is no longer among us. Thanks for helping to influence so many of us and for helping us to keep our feet on the ground and reaching for the stars. And as for that moment... be warned the language is very extreme. Only wished Id found a good version with out the Rick Dees drop in. Kind of like watching Return of the Jedi and getting the Hayden Christensen cameo at the end when all you wanted was the original. ~G
