I have thought about English and grammar quite a bit while commenting and reading comments. My friends are almost all highly informed, literate and articulate. I take it as a matter of course that arguments will be clear, easy to understand and grammatically correct. However that is very much the exception on FB. When I go to other sites I have to breath deeply to keep from grinding my teeth over what passes for English from so-called, English speakers. Certainly there are many on here for whom English is not their first language and that is not only understandable, but I applaud their ability to speak another language even if it does not follow proper grammatical rules. Who was the greatest influence on you regarding speech and writing when you were going to school?
