I have to admit, I have the funniest luck. I decide to go to the basement yesterday, and while I’m standing there, my cast iron sewer pipe cracks and starts to drip while oddly enough I have a bucket sitting nearby - so no mess. I looked and noticed a 4” crack which strangely spread to a 16” crack – strange yes. I call plumber and there is no quick fix for this problem. So I asked them to make me a sleeve (Band-Aid) until they can come by to take out the old cast iron pipe and replace it. They dont make sleeves, but it was something I quickly thought of that would hold everything in place temporarily. The funny thing is, imagine the mess if I didn’t go down to the basement – life is crazy and yes… sometimes lucky.
