I have to ask this group, I am impressed with the information I have seen published here. I am a 1st generation American. My father immigrated here in1927 ( was killed in the Battle of Leyte in the So Pacific on the USS Gambier Bay1945) with his mother her then husband (Adam Smehil) and his brothers and sister. I have been to Slovakia. I have researched the original records but I am stumped. My father was Karel Bohac maybe with Kacercin added? His father was a soldier and was declared missing in 1916 when my father was 3 years old. They were Catholic. I have traced them back to Jozef Bohac b. 1820 in Bela, Zilina, CZ (now Slovakia). I cant find where my Grandfather Jan Bohac , a soldier in 1916 was killed and I cant locate any family records beyond 1820 for my grandfather. Anyone with any clues, Id be most grateful to learn more.
