I have to brag on my oldest daughter for a minute :-) this is her first year in jr high and we were a little worried she wasnt ready. She had some struggles in 5th grade and I was worked about certain academic weaknesses and friendships rolling over into jr high and making life a little hard on her. She comes home every night and gets her homework done ASAP, takes her no time at all, so I honestly have worried that she isnt putting her all into we work. Ive had a lot of guilt over starting into photography as a more serious pursuit, praying on it often and hoping its not keeping me from noticing her slipping into any bad patterns at school. Its odd how the change from grade school to higher levels leaves a parent feeling less informed, it definitely takes a lot more purposeful investigating to know whats what in her life, and with her friends. Today we had her conferences, and I was BLOWN away. Straight As and an A+ from a teacher who said thats hard to get in her class. Every one of her teachers said shes fallen into a really good group of kids, and shes just bright and the academics seem to come to her easily. Shes being moved up a grade level in Language Arts. (Shes been reading MY books since she was in 3rd grade) her PE teacher said shes his star athlete, even beats the boys! Shes always been a child of HIGH energy, a little difficult to steer, and definitely loves attention. Im so thankful to God that Ive listened to my instincts even when its made no sense, protected her when needed and pushed her to put herself out there. Im SO beyond thankful to see her using her energy, drive and love of attention in a positive and wonderful way! Heres to praying that it continues, and that the rest of my miniatures follow suit!! Ok, off my pedestal ;-) proud mommy moment!
