I have to come right out and say. I love this movie. I have seen - TopicsExpress

I have to come right out and say. I love this movie. I have seen it four times (so far) in the theatre and it is in STRONG contention for beating my current number one film which is Under the Skin. 4 out of 4 stars. Perfection! Lets get into why I love this movie. It is pure fun. I have feelings of utter joy every time I watch this. I laugh at all the jokes just as hard. I am still in awe of the special FX every single time. DC pictures and Star Wars please take note. I find it hard to have fun in movies anymore. That is not the case with this movie Peter Quill, AKA Starlord is the leader of this motley crew of reluctant heroes. This is a star making role for Chris Pratt. Starlord never completely takes his role as leader seriously. Even in the most perilous situations he spurts out joke after joke. I love how he begins the movie by dancing to Come and Get Your Love as he attempts to steal an infinity stone. He doesnt get discouraged when captured and is more upset when the bad guys get his name wrong! He also tries to bed certain team members all the while doing it with a smile! Draxx is a character fueled by rage at the loss of his family. This character is humorous but not by his own knowledge. He takes everything literally which plays off Starlords cockiness and smart ass humor perfectly. Someone states that the humor would go over Draxxs head which he repliedNothing goes over my head, my reflexes are too strong! Ultimately Draxxs bullheaded but completely loyal to his companions. Gamora, adopted daughter of mad man Thanos, represents the female side to this team. No one can defeat her in combat as she brings the martial arts action to this team. There is a little romance between her and Starlord that will be pursued in future sequels I am sure. This is admittedly my least favorite Guardian. This is not the fault of Zoe Saldana, the script doesnt give her anything funny to say, except for one amusing Kevin Bacon joke. Rocket, voiced almost unrecognizably by Bradley Cooper, is a raccoon humanoid that starts the movie as a bounty hunter. Rocket is given a multitude humorous lines. Rocket is sassy and doesnt care who he offends and provokes fights whenever possible. He backs up the tough talk with a very big gun and a special body guard named..... GROOT! This is my favorite of all the Guardians. He is voiced by Vin Diesel, in his best cinematic role. GROOT is a tree creature that can only say I am GROOT which only Rocket can decipher the tone to mean something more profound. Just like Draxx, GROOT has many unintentional laughs with the constant repeat of I am GROOT. He is also the baddest bad ass of all the Guardians. At one point in the film he shoots his arms through a group of baddies and then swings them around to kill them and other baddies in the process. He ends this death transaction with a smile! In the prison escape sequence, which I will not ruin here, he steals the show from the other Guardians. GROOT also has a huge heart. His loyalty and passion for his fellow Guardians is unheralded and pays off in a dramatic sequence later in in the movie. GROOT seems like a brute but there is a soul behind all the brute ness that almost brought me to tears. The main villain here is Ronan, who is a complete badass that takes out Draxx, heralds an infinity stone, and even rebuffs and ignore Thanos ( a big villain in future Marvel films). He is one note but affective in installing fear and mayhem throughout the galaxy. Nebula is his right hand woman who looks cool but is more of an Assaj Ventriss (Sta Wars) rip off. I cant forget about my favorite peripheral character, Yondu. He is the surrogate father and teacher of Starlord. Peter Quill betrayed Yondu, so Yondu spends most of the movie chasing Quill. He is terrifying with his blue skin, sharp teeth, and quasi Mohawk. His real power involveds the remote control power of an arrow. This arrow kills at will and at one points eliminates an entire army! This movie is one of a kind. There are several characters, battles, planets etc that I have not discussed. This is what Star Wars should be. The new SW movies have much to live up to with this movie. This also sets the bar up there for DC films which in my opinion have lost there quality with Man of Steel. This also sets the bar for all Marvel Movies including Fox owned X-Men and Sony owned Soider-Man. This is one of my favorite Comic book movies as I love it more and more every time I see it. The highest highest highest of all recommends! On a side note, the soundtrack is phenomenal and is a character itself in the movie. It features hits from the 70s including my fav Come and Get Your Love. Make sure to get your copy and jam with Starlord! Erik
