I have to give credit to the Government on the proposed changes to Section 18C. Whilst I still think it was a poor message to send to the community (ie that everyone has the right to be a bigot under the guise of free speech), they to their credit put it to the people, who overwhelmingly (around 76%) opposed the changes. They then withdrew the proposed amendment. I think there should be more decision making like this. Maybe then the will of the people would be more accurately observed on a case by case basis.
