I have to put down all the great things I remember from this - TopicsExpress

I have to put down all the great things I remember from this conference this week. I was greeted by the always sunny Waylena McCully. The first night involved karaoke in the planetarium where we witnessed that more than a few planetarians had beautiful voices. Everyone in the room came together to sing the Galaxy Song by Monty Python, and no one needed to look at the words, of course. I bonded with Renee about going to the exact same place for honeymoons. We saw Robin Sips Sips fantastic Dinosaurs at Dusk. I was hoping at least one head would explode when the crowd was wowed by lasers set to skrillex. We saw real time volumetric realistic aurora, amazing. More than one person broke out an Oculus Rift, though breaking it out during the hospitality suite was daring. The legend John Steven French and Lynn Forster broke out ukeleles. I barely got to visit with the talented Eric Schreur. Dan Tell Tell officially was elected into the Glpa exec committee, which is something he has been working toward for a long time. I quietly elected myself to be the mayor of chocolate in the back of the room, no one seemed to even notice. The conference was streamed live and watched by the likes of John A Schroer, Michael J. Narlock and Matthew Mascheri. The latter two joined in through Facebook during the Armand Spitz lecture, one of the most excellent lectures I have ever seen yet, given by Art Klinger. I got to spend quality time with the one and only Mike Murray, and talk shop in a hot tub with Mike Smail. We had a talk by an astronaut who told us he had also been in the movie Top Gun, and he also told us that when Kelly McGillis was making out with Tom Cruise, Mr Cruise had to stand on a box. We had a great astronomy update, we saw a great upcoming shows and demos. I was able to show a few people some of the upcoming SpacePark360 rides in 3D. A man named Jason that was not me, told a great story about how even though he had the opportunity once to present a show to Stephen Hawking, his greatest honor was to know that a five year old patron of his planetarium gives pretend star shows to his parents in his living room and starts the show off by saying his name is Jason. Mr Chuck Rau blew my coworkers mind with Presi and LEDS. Grznar was made a fellow. Did I mention that Dave Weinrich honestly has a beautiful singing voice? And then there was Andrea, Deb Lawson, Ken Miller-san, the Ash guys who keep us hydrated, Sheldon and his staff, who pulled off an amazing conference. I hope everyone had as good of a time as I did. Hayabusa.
