I have to say, I dont remember the last time I was this excited about the MLB playoffs. Probably the last time was when the Minnesota Twins had their run many years ago...been a Minnesota Twins fan since middle school. But, the Twins are the Twins, sooo not much to be excited about for quite a while there. Having said that, Ive always liked the Royals, and I dont think you can grow up in Maryland, and not have a special place in your heart for the Os or Camden Yards...whether you are a Os fan or not. Always supported the Os, but never really been the diehard Birds fan. Both of these teams though are just fun to watch. They both just have that energy...that camaraderie, that just makes baseball special. Two things: the Royals have great pitching, but give up some HRs, which goes in Baltimores favor. The Royals got crazy speed on the bench which can definitely exploit the catching weakness the Os have without Wieters. Not to mention bold and ballsy management styles. At the end of the day though, both are exciting and emotional teams with similar strengths, and exploitable weaknesses on both sides...makes for a interesting series. Have a feeling that its going to be something special to watch. Bottom line, at the end of the day, who wouldve thought back in the spring that it would be the Orioles v. Royals in the ALCS? Forget the NL, this is where its at. This match-up is what makes the game of baseball special...Americas game.
