I have to say one other thing. Just as I was hitting Post on the article I just shared, I got a text from a dear friend who is pregnant and has been planning a homebirth VBAC2 in a few months. She said, I think Ive decided not to do a homebirth. When I asked her why, she said Its just not feeling safe for me anymore. I have a voice telling me not to do it. And THATS exactly what I support. Women birthing where they feel safe. Because thats where you will have the most normal, healthy labor and delivery... where you FEEL SAFE. This momma had very traumatic experiences in the hospital for her first two births. She felt her only option was to go entirely the opposite direction, but just met an OB that she feels wonderfully supported by, so shes decided to go back to the hospital, mostly due to a myriad of health issues she is battling. I had to call her right away to tell her how proud I am of her for making that decision, which Im sure was a million times harder than deciding to birth at home in the first place. Do your research. Know your options. Choose the place where you feel safe. And KEEP BIRTH NORMAL.
