I have to say that its pretty disconcerting when people I dont often see liking or commenting on my FB posts (I said dont often, not never) suddenly see fit to gang up and attack me because I refer to a boring competition as boring on my own timeline. Where are those people when Im sharing funny pics and videos or video game related stuff or informational stuff or whatever else I share on my FB page? Its pretty shitty to just suddenly feel the need to attack me and the most globally competitive sport in a bit of a gang attack. :-( I see posts I may not agree with or like on a daily basis (such as all this Royals jibber jabber) but I dont go attacking people on their own timelines. Its not that Ive NEVER done that but its certainly quite rare. I much prefer to like posts that I actually like and share a lot of them, too. I just get vocal (despite the silence of reading text) about things because I know there are people out there who may feel too intimidated or whatever to say things that may be deemed unpopular and at least they can take solace in knowing they may not be as alone in their thinking as some people will make them feel. All that being said, its GREAT to see football continuing to grow & grow in this country despite those who disrespect it. The watch parties for the World Cup were AMAZING to see and its even better how KC has REALLY positioned itself as the football capital of America with a current reigning champions in the form of Sporting Kansas City, FC Kansas City, and even throw the Missouri Comets in there since theyre almost KC. PLUS well have the big training center being built over the next couple of years for the US National Teams and more. MLS has been around since 1996 but it seems that really in the last 5 years or so it has really been building steam. Might be the people that were kids when the league started in 96 now being the ones with their own families and happily supporting this great sport. In all honesty within that last 5 year period the sport finally REALLY clicked for me to the point that it illustrates the kinds of things our American made sports seem to do wrong no the least of which being sports that seem to be more based on inaction than action. [Theory: Designed to maximize commercials for money.] With that said I think the NFL could once again be exciting for me but they need to do away with things like a taunting or excessive celebration penalty. Let the players have at least a little fun when they get a TD because when they have fun the fans have fun! If a celebration really crosses the line then just call Unsportsmanlike Conduct but if they do a little dance with a couple of teammates that didnt demean the other team, whats the harm? I could go on and on but I really and truly have thought about the pros and cons of different sports and thats why football has become my (as well as the worlds) #1 sport. So when I say how boring baseball is, there are many reasons Ive weighed out to come to that conclusion not the least of which being how rarely something resembling action actually happens. :-)
