I have to say this. The term religion comes from the Latin, meaning return to bondage. Thats possibly a keyword most people here can resonate with because of their own ordeal with religion. However, I must say that even that is just a dust-cover. I was (briefly) involved with Word of Faith, and they also felt they were free from that bondage and could identify it. So they thought. I think they knew there was something wrong, but then found a slim slice of freedom and said Aha!. They didnt even scratch the surface. Self-Righteousness is the DNA of religion. Once conceived, self-righteousness seeks to control and condemn, and by control, it means control how you live down to the length of your clothes and your hair! And by condemn, it seeks to damn those that dont fall in line to the letter to the point of death. Here in the United States, there are self-righteous groups that accuse many people of being damned and want to shun them, psychologically reprogram them or criminalize them. In reality, if they had their way with nothing like democratic law stopping them, they would stone people in droves every day. Self-righteousness has no end other than death to innocent people and bondage to those who dont die. The only reason self-righteous Christians havent been able to go so far as the Islamic terror groups is because the countries with large or majority populations of Christians have laws that condemn and prevent that... like the United States. This is an era of self-righteousness gone wild. The gospel is needed now!
