I have to set on my soapbox for a moment - just one moment if you please.... its going to be a bit harsh - what I say - but it needs to be said. To all of you who have ever gone on a vacation and stayed at a condo or rental or even a hotel. (this is every one of us !!! ) PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE STAYING AT SOMEONES PROPERTY! It might be your vacation but for those of us who manage those vacation properties its our jobs and none of us want to have to clean up after your mess and we certainly dont get paid enough to clean up after you when you are hell bent on destroying something or think because your renting it you dont have to take care of it. The properties that I manage are 3 day minimum rentals and most are for a week and up to a month and while one property is old world style the other is high end fairly expensive condos. In the last week I have had to have the pool guy out to clean the pool top to bottom because someone keeps shitting in it and then someone crapped in the elevator and now I find out someone crapped in the parking garage between two cars. I have had to call out an emergency cleaner to clean a carpet that someone destroyed by spilling stuff all over and then just walking on it the rest of the week. You break blinds, doors, toilet roll holders, flush things down the toilet that should never be flushed and leave rotten smelly garbage sitting in the hot car garage because you are to lazy to walk the extra 15 feet to the dumpsters. You jump on beds and break them, throw footballs in the room and break lamps and pictures. You take the beach chairs that we provide to the beach and leave them there to be stolen then complain because we didnt buy more immediately for you. You expect to have a full professional kitchen set up in your condo and cant believe that I wouldnt immediately go purchase you the best of everything. You let your children eat ice cream and candy and any number of other disgusting stuff on the bed - on my white sheets and my brand new white duvets - and dont think twice. You dont realize that I have spent months, months, and tons of my owners money to upgrade the condo for you so you can in one week damage countless items and ruin not 2 but 3 or 4 comforters. Instead of taking a blanket from the closet or a towel from the bathroom you bleed on my white sheets and duvets and instead of saying anything to us you roll everything up in the closet and proceed to complain about not having clean sheets. This is only at the Palms - my highend condos - Ive said nothing about the Seahorse - the key west style cottages. There you let your dogs shit and piss on the floors and in the sand and dont clean it up for days. You let your kids and your dogs tear the blinds down and ruin them. When you rented the cottage you were told they are rustic - 1938 style cottages very little updates - with room air conditioners. Yet you complain because the kitchen is not updated, the bathrooms are small, you cant get the cottage to a chilly 68 degrees in July. How dare we not provide you with fridges with ice makers and shame on us for not making certain that you wont be able to hear the noise from the next cottage or the street and truly I can really do something about the construction next door cant I? COME ON PEOPLE - please give me a break! if you wouldnt do it in your house why should you be able to do it in mine???? I have 22 condos that I am responsible for daily. 9 cottages that are my babies to watch over. I know its your vacation - you do tend to rub it in a bit, but please please please the next time you rent something or stay somewhere even if its never my condos or cottages remember its not there for you to destroy, have some respect, think about how you would feel if it were your place being treated like that- clean up after yourself, dont ruin it for the next guy -its not your property and we will charge you and even prosecute you for damages. AND STOP SHITTING IN THE POOL!
