I have to wonder at what people consider important. There is a nationwide uproar about a Florida teenager being killed by the neighborhood watch volunteer he attacked. Marches, magazine covers and even a Presidential press conference on the outcome of the court case. Earlier this year we had an Embassy attacked and an Ambassador and what remained of the security attachment tortured and killed. Unlike the Florida case this one not only received very little media attention but the outgoing Secretary of State asked in bewilderment why it even mattered. To my mind what matters is the incredible skewing of this countries priorities. Does anyone realize that race matters very little when it comes to blood transfusions? The color of the skin and the shape of the nose or the type of hair are not even considered when an organ is donated. We need to regain our perspective and accept that whoever is worthy of reward should get it regardless of what they are and conversely, if responsibility needs to be assigned along with punishment, only the action should be the determining factor, nothing else.
