I have tried desperately to stay far away from this topic as it seems very much like a sociological bate and switch by our media and government branches. What most people fail to understand is that 18k earned by most soldiers is cost free. They have no bills save those that they make themselves (car, house, credit cards etc) so imagine if you will what you would do with 18k a year if you could spend it on anything. THEY DESERVE MORE THEN THAT. That being said it is not a reflection on McDonalds or on their staff that is the real issues here. This conflict between worker and employer is systemic of our current and ever growing social rift of class labor. Class labor boils down to two things, 1 keeping a class structure either socially, economically (we have this one), or religiously that separates people based on the dynamics of those social groups (not on individual value). (2) Maintaining this dynamic requires increasingly stronger dogma, political rhetoric, laws to ensure that your class system stays in place and those subjected to that class system do not exceed or are subjected to class change without majority consent of that class system. What this means in our country is that during the fifties and up economic policies have been implemented to ensure that economic status stays relevant to the corporate machine and the market presented for that corporate machine. You are bred by governing policies, corporate commercials, educational access, and systemic apathy to not improve your selves or your chances for improvement. Do not be sheep people do some research on the topic before you make snap judgments. The people demanding these wage increases do so because these starter positions are the best they can get. They are taught by commercials, politicians, media centers, and even college financial institutions that it is best not to try or that they have no chance in continued education. If you think I am wrong think about just one person you know who has said I am never going to get better then this. I know it sucks but I just cannot do any better. Now take half of the population and know that is a majority consensus.
