I have used the Loving Kindness meditation featured below to great effect with combat veterans affected by PTSD and other groups and individuals in serious distress. It is a beautiful process for anyone to use. First, focus on wishing yourself well, next, someone about whom you feel neutral, then someone you love and care about, then someone you dislike or consider to be an "enemy". Take at least a few minutes to really focus on each stage. End by wishing loving kindness to all living creatures and the world in which we live.
