I have visited Rothko Chapel several times for meditation and solitude. It is definitely a place to get in touch with darkness. The first day I visited, a young man having lunch with his s.o. was shot in broad daylight. I was a witness. I immediately had to go to acupuncturist to find some calm in that storm... I went in to visit the chapel right after the event and was not able to find relief there after. I reflected on very quickly what I should be thankful for. That easily couldve been... Ive evaded many instances of violence up close and personal. Darkness seems almost normal sometimes but in darkness I found light. That easily could have been. Inadvertently.... could have been... the light is what evaded or protected me at the moment in time. Poignant.
