I have watched many videos where religious extremists are shown slaughtering people in cold blood and I always end up asking myself one question: why would anybody/soldier or whatever allow himself to be captured alive by religious extremists like ISIS, Al-Qaida, Boko Haram etc. Pardon my naivety, I want people with combat experience to explain this to me. In my mind, I always believe I will simply shoot myself once it becomes obvious that we are going to be captured. I can recollect a few historical examples. King Saul in the Bible begged his armour bearer to finish him off to avoid being captured alive. Samson was captured alive and he paid for it. He had to eventually commit suicide and take along as many people as possible from the enemies camp. I think Hitlers body was never found. I ask my naive question again, why would anybody preferred to be captured by brutal religious extremists that will most likely (99.99999%) torture you before finishing you off? Is suicide not less painful and reasonable option? Dave Jagermeister
