I have worked very hard as your Sheriff over the last few years to build confidence with the citizens we serve. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office has a reputation of being ethical, compassionate, fair, hard working, Accountable to the people and transparent. I will continue to work hard to maintain this reputation. When I took Office as the Iron County Sheriff in 2003, I made a goal to work hard and try to improve the Sheriff’s Office on many levels. Since that time I can say that we have made great accomplishments that have improved our quality of service to the citizens of Iron County. I hope you noticed I said “we” when I refer to the many improvements that have been made. It takes a team effort to make it all work. We have improved and updated the equipment for the Iron County Sheriffs Search and Rescue. We now have specialized and modern equipment for all rescue operations we may face. We have worked very hard to set up our forensic crime lab. Having this lab in place has now given us the ability to examine forensic evidence in a timely and efficient manner. We have implemented Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) team. This team of Volunteers helps the Sheriff’s Office with many tasks that we sometimes do not have the time or the funds to complete. We have set up a no kill animal shelter in 2009. This shelter was mostly built by an inmate work crew, and this helped save thousands of tax payer dollars. I am proud to say this facility is paid off and run very efficiently. We have organized a high angle ropes rescue team that is made up of Paramedics, Sheriff Deputies, Search and Rescue members, and fireman. This team has been used many times to rescue people who have become stranded or hurt while climbing and hiking in Iron County’s back country. We have improved the equipment, training, policy and procedure development for the Corrections and Patrol Deputies. The Deputies now have access to the most up to date equipment, and they all attend trainings the keep themselves sharp and on the cutting edge of new trends in law enforcement. In November of 2012 I was asked to take over the administration and day to day operations of the Iron County Ambulance Service. Since that date we have improved moral, updated equipment, decreased our response times and this vital public service continues to improve on a daily basis. This service is run very professionally by a team that is dedicated and highly trained. I have big plans for the Sheriff’s Office. I want to increase the level of medically trained Deputies, so we can better serve the citizens of Iron County. I want to work closely with the Citizens of Iron County and foster relationships that help us do our job better. “This is your Sheriff’s Office too, and we cannot make this work effectively without your help.” I promise to continue being a check and balance with the overreach of numerous federal agencies that think they can come into Iron County and push us around with their unreasonable policies. I am a constitutional Sheriff, I value the 2nd amendment and I believe without this amendment we are all in danger of having all other god given civil rights taken from us. I took an oath to up hold and defend the Constitution of the United States and I promise I will never deviate from that oath. I know the difference between the spirit of the law and the letter of the law and I believe in order to be a good Peace Officer you must know this. I know the value of hard work, and I can assure you I will work hard every day to provide the best Public Safety service available. I am privilege to work side by side with the professionals that make the Sheriff’s Office so great and I am also privileged to serve you, the fine citizens of Iron County. I do love my job and I am honored to be your Sheriff. Thank You. Please get out and vote Tuesday November 4th [email protected] 435-691-7510
