I have wrestled with the decision to post this on FB. I finally decided that it may save another person from the heartache we have been through. We have always traveled with our dogs in crates as we wanted them to be as safe as possible. Airline crates in winter and wire crates in summer for the airflow to keep the dogs comfortable. This accident occurred at approximately 35 mph on August 17th. There were 3 dogs in 3 crates. We thought that since space was tight the crates were secure. On impact the crates “disintegrated”. All 3 dogs were out of the crates after impact…two dogs ended up in the front seats and the other one was loose outside the car…one dog was seriously injured. We have learned the hard way that we should always be using airline crates.
