I have written this to swat before but thought I would post on an open page, my son was lucky enough to be one of the last babies born in withybush on the 22nd of July this year, as it was with my other 2 children we recived outstanding care and support from the wonderful team of midwives that we have become familiar with having 3 children close together! After having my little boy I became quite poorly, being a Friday evening I went to the out of hours doctor that decided I needed to see the obs and gyni but with the cuts I had to go to Carmarthen, I dont drive so my dad (who at the time was fishing near Carmarthen) came to Haverfordwest to pick me up with my husband and our new born baby (we needed to call my sister to babysit our other 2) we then drove to Carmarthen which took 50mins, when there we were met by a rude NA that had no idea what was going on with me arriving and decided to talk over me in welsh! We were left in a side room for 2 and a half hours when I decided to see if anyone was about as we had seen no body, a midwife said she were on her way to see me took all my informatio, it was pushing on 11 pm and my dad was cold and tired and my baby was in the car with my dad so I asked if it was going to be a wait could I stay the night to which she said there was no beds and suggested my dad come in, we waited another hour when a gyni doctor finally came in took my information again and decided to do an internal and a swab (he did not scan) I said we needed to get bank to Pembrokeshire so we needed to go, I asked for a blood form to get it done in withybush which no one could seem to do! I was then sharply told to wait in the side room, at this point my husband and dad were waiting in the car, a midwife then came to take blood she were very rude and extremely rough took the blood in silence then said you can go now walking out of the room, the only person who was nice to us up there that night was a withybush midwife who delivered my daughter and recognized us! I was i scanned still feeling poorly on the monday i went to my gp who got me a scan in withybush and put me on anti biotics, turned out i had retain product from having my baby and after a trip to Carmarthen, withybush still ended up sorting the problem. Carmarthen hospital is not as warm as withybush! Its a shame we have lost a beautiful ward but most of all a beautiful team of midwifes!!!!
