I havent been in a real good frame of mind for the past few days, - TopicsExpress

I havent been in a real good frame of mind for the past few days, but I wanted to address the untimely death of not only a co-worker, but a great friend. Robin Fant Slagle had been our nurse at the Barren County Detention Center for the past few years. Robin wasnt just a nurse that worked at a jail. Robin was a part of our jail family. We would play practical jokes on her, trying to scare her. She would cuss us for scaring her, and we deserved it. I would fuss at her, and she would give it right back to me. Our lives and our workplace will never be the same. From the time I received the call on Sunday morning, until the time she was laid to rest last night, it doesnt seem real. As the Jailer, and a boss, I felt like I was the one who had to maintain my composure, for the sake of everyone else at the jail. In reality, I learned I needed them to stay strong for MY sake. I must thank Simpson County Jailer Eric Vaughn and his staff for covering for us during the funeral. Eric and his staff are Class Acts. Thank You to Southern Health Partners, Krystal Lafara Casey-Souders, and Larry Higgins for supporting us and being our friends when we need it the most. Thank You to the staff of Red Cross Elementary, who never cease to amaze me, and always care for students as if they are their own children. The outpouring love to Edgar and his three children has been unbelievable. As we were paying our last respects, Addy stretched out her little arms to hug me. She latched onto me so tightly. I kissed her and told her I loved her. She will understand one day how loved her mother was. Please remember Robins family, not only during this holiday season, but for years to come. The entire family will need our love and support.
