I havent done a movie review in a while, so here goes... Daredevil: I never had any interest in seeing this, and Ive always heard bad things about it. However, I recently caught it on late-night TBS and figured Id check it out. Now, the story and premise were decent enough, but the execution was atrocious. The cinematography was awful; it was like watching a feature-length music video...to bad songs. The action was cringe-worthy, especially the playground fight between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. I fell asleep a little more than halfway through, and am not the least bit disappointed that I dont know how it ends. Still better than Batman and Robin, though. .5 ☆ Straw Dogs: Both versions are esentially the same movie--albeit in different settings--with a few tiny, yet significant, alterations. Lines included in the original set a different tone when removed in the remake, and characters attitudes toward each other varied between the two, making the conclusion play out differently. As far as the acting, James Marsden and Kate Bosworth (reuniting in more of a Superman movie than their previous collaboration, Superman Returns) play a realistic couple, whereas that of Dustin Hoffman and Susan George is stretching it. The one thing that bothered me about both films was the intense rape scene, which I would much rather have been implied. 2011: ☆☆☆ 1971: ☆☆.5 The Impossible: The true story of a family (inexplicably changed from Spanish to Australian, other than to star Ewan McGregor and my girlfriend, Naomi Watts) who are caught in the 2004 Asian tsunami; their incredible journey back to each other is inspiring and moving. As a father whose family is everything, the emotions in this movoe definitely hit close to home, as I couldnt imagine being separated by such a catastrophic event, not knowing if I would ever see them again. ☆☆☆
