I havent known Dave for a very long time but I still want to share my thoughts here with you. I met Dave in the summer of 2010, just 4 years ago. His grandson Jase had stayed with my family in Germany for 3 weeks in 2009 as an exchange student. We became friends, so I was invited to stay with the Daggett family for a while in the following year. When I first met Dave I immediately was fascinated by him. I will never forget how he welcomed me with a big hug :) I can remember every single time I met Dave and Louann during my Oregon vacations. One time, me and Jase were over at their house for dinner and showed Dave how to use Facebook. Then we watched this awesome music video which Dave loved: https://youtube/watch?v=Us-TVg40ExM He took his guitar and played along with the music :) I came back to Oregon to visit the Daggetts in 2012, 2013 and 2014, just a few weeks ago. On my last meeting with Dave, family dinner at Karens house, he asked me when I would come to Grants Pass again. I said: Unfortunately not before 2016. He then replied something like: Oh no! Two years??? No way Im gonna make it that long! in his humorous way, followed by a wink. Although knowing that he probably would be right made me having to fight my tears, this showed me that he wasnt afraid to die. I cant find words to say how sad I am that I didnt get to know him better, but on the other hand Im glad that even in his last months, he could live a life with relatively few limitations and that he was able to meet his great grandson Alistair :) My thoughts are with Louann and I cant wait to see her again in 2 years!
