I havent really had a chance to post a long, meaningful post - TopicsExpress

I havent really had a chance to post a long, meaningful post lately as Ive been keeping things rolling along. I do want to congratulate everyone who got promoted this month. To those who were promoted... Yellow belt, I want you to understand that this is the beginning of a tremendous journey. You are now a shining example of a short term goal for beginning martial artist. Your rank is most important as it can either encourage or discourage beginners, and help them decide if this is the direction they want to follow. You may think a mere yellow belt is insignificant but the contrary is that it is one of the most important positions of your martial arts career in that it can help your art grow... or decline. You have the power to make it happen. Orange belt, your position is important in that your experience is a guideline to whats expected as a Judoka, Although you are still learning, you have enough experience under your belt that you can start giving a little back, giving guidance to Yellow belts to help them become examples so that beginners can set their short term goals on what they should be able to accomplish within a few months with dedication and hard work Green belt, you are now in the heart of the battlefield. Your experience and goals have become a fight for success. More is expected of you and more should be given. you are but a short distance to being considered an experienced Judoka. Brown belt, you are the true advertisement for the dojo. What people should see in you is the personification of what your dojo is all about. You should be more than deidcated, hororable, humble, and exude leadership. Just never forget that a good leader must first become a great follower of the positive examples. Black belt, your loyalty, respect and honor to your Dojo and your Sensei should be second to none. You have a responsibility to your fellow judoka, and that is to encourage rather than discourage.... to motivate rather than scorn... and to grow to be a humble leader. It was an honor to promote All of you but even more important, to be a part of your growth. I look forward to seeing you continue to learn. If i could give any advice it would be to indulge yourself in your art by dismissing prestige, and doing what needs to be done to make things better. Congratulations to all of you and remember... always study, because youre always being tested.
