I havent spoken much about my personal feelings in regards to the shooting at MPHS. I cannot describe how terrified I was on that day. The responsibility I felt for our students and others that we corralled within our room. A drill? I was prepared for that. Reality? I was not. Locking ourselves within the room...waiting...wondering....waiting....worrying...waiting.... Petrified that reality was upon us. Hearing there were live shots fired on campus. Hearing swat storm into our building...terrified that the shooter(s) were barging into our room....Hearing shouts demanding for someone to put there hands up....to get on the ground....How do we protect thee Ourselves? Believe me. Youre terrified. I cannot persuade you to feel the reality that set in once we knew there were live shots fired on OUR campus....at MP? Not here......... You hear about it. You empathize. Or at least you think you do. Today....this day....I was so impressed by the maturity, devotion, and enduring spirit of our students, staff and community that I cannot explain or create an understanding of how proud I am to be a part of the MPHS staff. I was in absolute awe. Student led activity through-out today, the staff that supported and volunteered more time than needed, those that climbed mountains, stayed extra hours, made phone calls, gave hugs, stood in the rain, provided snacks and listened to students and/or for students are the true heros. This community is strong and loves one another like none Ive ever seen. I am proud to be a citizen of Marysville, staff member at MPHS, deacon at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, and a family member of the Jordan clan. Go Hawks! Both Seattle Sea.....and MPHS Toma.....
