I havent touched this Scottish referendum thingy, but going by the panic-stricken responses from our elected leaders Id say its going to be a close run election. Maybe westminster politicians are fearful of abdicating power to brave heart warriors who might actually care for the people they govern. Or maybe they see the danger of an independent Scottish government investing in housing, jobs and people, thus exposing what the English government have spectacularly failed to do for us poor bastards living on this side of Hadrians Wall. Too many political big-shots have alighted from trains at Glasgow Central recently issuing portents of doom regarding a YES for Independence vote. Their scare-tactics is a tip in itself if you fancy a bet on the outcome...currently 15/8 best price with Ladbrokes...NO to Independence is 2/5, and the draw 66/1...imagine being one vote out if youd backed the draw at those odds...youd go mad wouldnt you! :P On a grander scale, not one former Commonwealth country has ever applied for re-sovereignty as far as I know, and if you quite like driving on the right hand side of the road this is your big chance. Courting couples could still elope to Gretna Green, and could pay for the wedding by piling the boot of their stretch limo with duty-free ale and ciggies, thus helping to offset the cost of the wedding. @ Voice your Choice a week on Thursday. :-)
