I haven’t done a post like this before so bear with me. I was shocked to my core this week by the death of one of my former colleagues of Sun Microsystem Australia. Ian, aged 55 with 3 children, one grandchild and a whole lot of life in front of him decided to take his own life. No note, no explanation, nothing. As someone who read his near daily posts of normality, breakfasts, family stuff etc this has come as a huge shock. I’ve been to a couple of funerals recently of people who were terminally ill, and death was expected, but to feel the full force of a suicide was so unexpected and has impacted my day to day thinking in such a way that I did not expect. Readers – if you are having bad thoughts, please reach out for support. It appears that Ian didn’t. His family and closest friends had no idea and are dealing with this shock in a very different way than I am. Apologies for the rant but I needed to get this off my chest.
