I hear a lot of people saying that there is no such thing as American food, really, is that true or did you just forget all the delicious food you love that came from America, try telling people in Buffalo that there is no such thing as American food after you eat their delicious wings, tell that to the people of St. Louis and their BBQ ribs, tell that to the people of Kentucky and their Southern Fried Chicken, tell that to the guys in Memphis with their slow smoked BBQ pork and chicken, along with the pulled pork sandwich, tell that to people in Manhattan after you’ve had a New York Strip steak, tell that to people in Chicago with their deep dish pizza so thick you have to eat it with a fork, and their classic Chicago style hotdogs, tell it to the people of New Orleans after you’ve had some Etoufee, Jambalaya, Po Boy sandwich and some badass crawdads, tell it to them in New England with their Seafood and New England clam chowder, I would like to see you go to Texas and tell them there’s no such thing as American food after you try a Texas style T Bone and some chili, come to Phoenix and tell me there’s no American food after you ate some great deep fried rattlesnake, or go to the Midwest or the deep south and try some chicken fried steak and tell the cooks that there is no such thing as American food, Tell them in Philly that there is no such thing as American food and they’ll beat you to death with a delicious Philly cheese steak, tell my grandma and she would have cooked you some pot roast, go to Maryland and try their crab cakes, go camping and eat some smores and tell me there is no such thing as American food, try a goddamn BLT sandwich, try some Southern deep fried turkey, or a Turducken- that’s turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken. tell the pioneers and they’ll give you some jerky, tell it to the Soul Brothers and they’ll give you some cornbread, grits, BBQ pork sandwich, some fried chicken and waffles, some baked catfish, sweet potato pie, and some other soul food that does not sound too appetizing to many people like pigs feet- regardless its still American, go to the Midwest and try a Bison Burger or Bison steak, come to Arizona and tell the Navajos and they’ll give you their delicious fry bread. My cousin is from Italy- and her favorite thing in America is tater tots, you can’t find those in Europe. Go to Arby’s and try a chicken bacon and Swiss sandwich with honey mustard, go to Popeye’s and try their spicy deep fried boneless chicken strips, try a slow roasted Turkey or ham for the holidays, grill up some corn on the cobb with butter and black pepper, try some steak, bacon and eggs for breakfast. I could go on and on about American food, but the point is the people who say that there is no such thing as American food either have a shitty memory or just don’t know what their talking about. Really the only countries that can compete with American cuisine are Italy, France, Mexico, China, Japan, Iran (Persian food and other parts of the Middle East and Greece- Med Sea), and maybe Thailand and Vietnam, course Korea is up there too- especially Korean BBQ, also supposedly Ethiopian food is great also, but out of over 200 countries in the world America has to rank in the top 10 for food.
