I hear a thirty year old supporter of GEJ agrees that GEJ has failed but they cant support GMB because he is shallow, and two things happen to me: 1. I dont know whether to laugh or cry. But I laugh out loud all the same, till tears run down my cheeks; 2. I understand why the older generation cannot just thrust REAL leadership positions into our hands. Just like that. And without working for it, leadership will continually elude us. Forget affirmative action. The positions those slots fill are what the Yorubas tag aje gba, ma pa mi. You see, we need to learn. Learn. Learn. Learn. And learn. Then act. No, not that kind of learning. Learning through mentorship. If I ask how many of you in my age bracket have mentors now, I doubt many would respond in the affirmative. Those of us who have, how much time do we spend with our mentors? Those older, how many people are you mentoring? Apart from blasting my generation, how many of us are you replicating yourselves in? We all have work to do.
