I hear all this talk about rights and freedom. Interestingly, it usually comes from folks who sit on the sideline debating and have never entered the ring. Until you have fought for anothers rights only to have them arbitrarily taken away or diminished you dont have the slightest idea. During my trial two weeks ago, a juror was 17 and walked with Martin Luther king Jr and was incarcerated in Florida for illegal organizing without a permit. It changed his life. The lawyer I try civil rights cases with came down from New York to Mississippi to help register blacks register to vote. A classmate of his who was Jewish was shot to death. My friend continued his quest and was jailed multiple times for his work. Sacrifice, fidelity, diligence to the cause of freedom is an unending and daunting task that must be fought daily.
