I hear the "powers that be" are trying to replace "stand your ground" with "duty to retreat." Hmmmm... The idea of legally-mandated cowardice turns my stomach. I do not like the idea of turning my back on my assailant. My reflexes are too slow for a fistfight. My knees are too funky for running away and too stiff for kneeling. I prefer the notion of standing my ground and drawing my pistol. Besides... In a "duty to retreat" world, how do I know that my assailant has not deliberately planned to cause me to run toward an ambush?
