I heard a very interesting interpretation of this from a Kurdish friend yesterday. All of Turkey, and it seems the world, is now seeing this recent bout of violence as between Kurds and Turks... but what if its not? What if its actually Kurd vs. Kurd? More specifically, its between Islamist Kurds who side with ISIS vs. secular Kurds who side with Kobane? After all, most of the dead seem to be occurring not from police action but from inter-mob violence... But if thats the case, that ISIS has significant enough support among Kurds in Turkeys southeast, and Im assured they do... that might even explain why Turkey isnt letting Kurds go join the fight in Kobane. Maybe those guys arent trying to join the fight on Kobanes side? Or maybe they claim they are going to fight for Kobane, but how can you confirm whether theyre telling the truth or not? Many people joined ISIS over the years by telling Turkish authorities they were going to join far more moderate groups in Syria - ones that were actually allied with - but once they got into the country immediately went over to the ISIS camp. Could it be that Turkish authorities are simply not letting anyone through to not risk ISIS getting new recruits? Or is it as many claim, Turkey simply wants ISIS to win in Kobane and so is preventing reinforcements from going in? Either way, welcome to the Middle East... where nothing is ever simple or straightforward... hurriyetdailynews/video-more-than-10-killed-in-isil-protests-across-turkey-as-curfew-declared-in-five-provinces.aspx?PageID=238&NID=72659&NewsCatID=341
